As a leader in the Prescription Benefit Management industry, RESTAT has executed programs to address the standard transactions, privacy and security implications as stated in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). RESTAT understands the principles addressed in this legislation and has accepted the challenge of HIPAA administrative simplification through standardized electronic transactions as well as consideration of the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI).
One of the values that RESTAT holds essential to accomplishing its mission is to deliver unparalleled service to its customers and business associates. RESTAT responds to their needs by continually enhancing the quality and scope of the products and services it offers. In keeping with these values, RESTAT has made the commitment to technology along with reviewing our organizational practices regarding the creation, use and disclosure of PHI. RESTAT is committed to compliance with HIPAA within its affected components and in assisting our customers to successfully meet their HIPAA requirements.
Although RESTAT is not a covered entity as defined in the regulations of HIPAA, we have committed to take the important steps in assuring that we can facilitate customer and business associates compliance objectives. RESTAT has gained its understanding by participating in industry professional associations and enlisting the services of outside consulting firms. In addition, RESTAT retains its corporate law firms HIPAA Implementation and Compliance Counseling, Tools and Training team. RESTAT has a project team in place, which is accountable to the Vice President of Operations and Information Services.
